6 Books To Teach Your Kids About Voting

Today marks a very special day in our country’s history as the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted American women the right to vote! This long and hard-fought win came after nearly a century of protests across the country from trailblazing women such as Frances Harper, Alice Paul, Sojourner Truth, and many, many more. And while we at Piccolina recognize that in practice, millions of women of color remained disenfranchised by Jim Crow laws and other racist practices (many of which persist even today), we are celebrating the trailblazing women who led the charge to gain suffrage for women in the United States.

For those of you looking to teach your little ones about the 19th Amendment and its significance, including the process of voting and its rich history in our country, we pulled together some of our favorite books on the topic. As we head into another presidential election season, we hope these tools will come in handy when navigating an important and tricky subject.
