She has since had two picture books published and worked with various different clients such as The Guardian, The BBC and Google's Women in Tech just to name a few.
]]>Outside of her client work Monica has been featured on Vogue.com, Afropunk.com, Everystylishgirl.com, UprisingBrand.com and DesignMilk.com. Afropunk.com describes Monica’s style as “a little Bauhaus, a little Warhol, vector illustrations packed with personality, nostalgia, and pride. Work that honors black creatives, be
they fashion designers, music legends, or cultural icons. Expressive portraits
that bring an extra dimension to each subject.
Her global travels reignited her creative energy, allowing her to move in another design direction. She was inspired by the many beautiful and diverse women in Brooklyn whose decorative hair looked more like art. She interpreted what she saw along with her magical childhood imagination to give life to Brooklyndolly.
]]>She kept being drawn (get it?) to the irresistible essence of animals: their furry faces, their perky ears, their plethora of colors and textures. Animals simply have a way of being adventurous and fun: visually, figuratively and literally.
At Gingiber, we believe life should be that way, too.
